Cali

Happiness is a coloured bum.

Cali

Oh my, Stewart is cleaning the whelping box and Jennifer, Ina and George are re-marking the puppies bottoms. Cali keeps licking our special marks off! So, a clean sterile "box" and a new Vet Bed and puppies full of milk. Day 2 and all is going to plan!!!!

Puppies

When a puppy takes fifty catnaps in the course of a day, he cannot always be expected to sleep the night through.

Cali

What a long night! At least I have caught up on my emails (just). All is well, I tried helping Cali by giving one or two puppies colostrum but they would rather be snuggled up to mum. It's just getting light at 04.50 and the dawn chourus is starting outside and inside ALL are sleeping. Life is good.

Cali

It's Stewart's shift! Jennifer has gone to bed for a hard earned rest. I had a sleep from 7pm till 1am so I should be fighting fit. That's the theory but theory does not always work! Cali is doing really well and the puppies are fine, warm and very content. My goodness, when Cali cleans them and she licks them off a teat, the noise is deafening. Only a day old but they know how to protest!

Feeding

We decided to give Cali a bit of a hand with the feeding.

Meeting the family

Close family visited this afternoon.
Just back from the vet's. All hunky dory and 100% ok. Vet is very impressed with the litter. Cali is doing fine. We just need to rest and look after Cali and she will look after her puppies.

Cali

Well, clean bed, dry bed! We are all shattered and Cali is having a well deserved sleep. We can't stop looking at them, so, we don't get any sleep! Well, we will be with Cali 24/7.

Welcome

Cali

Well, it's 07.45 and all nine puppies are either feeding or sleeping. They are the lucky one's. Jennifer is having forty winks and I'm on the twilight shift. Nothing since 6am but never say never. Cali is pooped and won't be best pleased when I change the bedding in a while. She has done so well It's a shame to disturb her but she needs a clean dry bed!

Cali

At 6am Cali had number 9, a boy. What a great mother she is. We are all so proud of her.

Cali

5.06 a.m. Cali now has 6 girls and two boys. There are more to come. This is wonderful.

Cali

04.45 and Cali has delivered 6 girls and 1 boy. We expect more as the hours go on!

Cali

Finally! at 00.55 and 01.07 Cali gave us two girls. They are doing very well and Cali is doing us proud. What a beautiful dog she is. We are so lucky! This can take 12 hours to complete! and there are many more to come.

Cali

Well, it's 11.50pm Saturday 29th May. Not a peep of tiny paws. Cali is tired but plods on. Oh happy days, I did say we are in for a long night.

Cali

Well, no news! We thought it would happen this morning but she's decided to hang on. She's sleeping but her puppies are dancing like mad. I think we maybe in for a very long night!

Golden Retrievers

Amistadleal is the Kennel Name for Stewart and Jennifer's Golden Retrievers. We hope to publish photographs of Cali's puppies in the next few days. They are due today, May 29th. She is trying her best so please be patient.
