A Prayer for today

Prayer of Saint Francis for Animals

God Our Heavenly Father,
You created the world
to serve humanity's needs
and to lead them to You.
By our own fault
we have lost the beautiful relationship
which we once had with all your creation.
Help us to see
that by restoring our relationship with You
we will also restore it
with all Your creation.
Give us the grace
to see all animals as gifts from You
and to treat them with respect
for they are Your creation.

We pray for all animals
who are suffering as a result of our neglect.
May the order You originally established
be once again restored to the whole world
through the intercession of the Glorious Virgin Mary,
the prayers of Saint Francis
and the merits of Your Son,
Our Lord Jesus Christ
Who lives and reigns with You
now and forever. Amen.

Quality time with mum

Bless! Cali really wanted to go in with the puppies tonight.

Chew sticks

The puppies had some fun this morning with soime chew sticks. They all had one each to start off with but, as you can imagine, someone else's always looks better than your own.

Visit to the vets

The remaining four puppies all had their first inoculation today. They coped really well with the car journey and gave the people behind us a treat wen the all popped their heads up and looked through through the back window. At the vets they were clingy for about 30 seconds then set about exploring the surgery. They were all declared fit and healthy and didn't even squeak when they had their jabs.

Here is a video of all four, showing that they seem to have recovered from their ordeal.

The milk run

We have decided that the easiest way to get the puppies inside in the evenings is to let them follow Cali in and then have a few minutes with her. she seems quite happy with this arrangement and has made it clear that she is not quite ready to give up the evening feed yet.

Sneeky

While mum is busy with her new Pheasant, Orlando sneeks a cuddle and drink! and the big ball of fluff that is ORLANDO shouts "Hi" to his new family across the pond!

WHERE DO PETS COME FROM?
It is reported that the following edition of the Book of Genesis
was discovered in the Dead Seal Scrolls. If authentic, it would
shed light on the question, "Where do pets come from?"

And Adam said, "Lord, when I was in the garden, you walked
with me everyday. Now I do not see you anymore. I am
lonesome here and it is difficult for me to remember how much
you love me."
And God said, "No problem! I will create a companion for you
that will be with you forever and who will be a reflection of my
love for you, so that you will know I love you, even when you
cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish and childish and
unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you
are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourself."
And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam.
And it was a good animal. And God was pleased.
And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and he wagged
his tail. And Adam said, "But Lord, I have already named all the
animals in the Kingdom and all the good names are taken and I
cannot think of a name for this new animal."
And God said, "No problem! Because I have created this new
animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a
reflection of my own name, and you will call him DOG."
And Dog lived with Adam and was a companion to him and loved
him. And Adam was comforted. And God was pleased. And Dog
was content and wagged his tail.
After a while, it came to pass that Adam's guardian angel came to
the Lord and said, "Lord, Adam has become filled with pride. He
struts and preens like a peacock and he believes he is worthy of
adoration. Dog has indeed taught him that he is loved, but no one
has taught him humility."
And the Lord said, "No problem! I will create for him a companion
who will be with him forever and who will see him as he is. The
companion will remind him of his limitations, so he will know that he
is not always worthy of adoration."
And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam. And Cat
would not obey Adam. And when Adam gazed into Cat's eyes, he
was reminded that he was not the supreme being. And Adam
learned humility.
And God was pleased. And Adam was greatly improved.
And Cat did not care one way or the other.

Bath time

Before the puppies leave for their new homes, they have a good bath, blow-dry and trim.

Five little puppy dogs

The evening routine starts with the evening meal, now served in one bowl.

Then, the puppies follow mum inside for a milk drink before bed.

Then a little bedtime 'reading'. We did think, initially, that the paper chewers might have gone but the puppies soon proved us wrong.

Graduation Day

Sorry there aren't any more photos or videos today. Stewart and Jennifer spent the day with Charles at his graduation ceremony. We will post more photos and clips tomorrow.

Why?

I'm really not sure why we bother putting paper down. And they seem so pleased with themselves!

Just some photos

Wormer - again!

It was so much easier to give the puppies their wormer the last two times!

Last night together

Tuesday evening, 20th July 2010

Last chance for a nap and a cuddle. Where has the time gone? All of the puppies new families are wishing the time away, I just wanted it to stand still.

Orlando does some filing

Our last evening together!

Can you believe it? This is the puppies' last evening together, as Hetty leaves tomorrow to be with her new family. Stewart spent some quality time with the puppies, grooming them and giving them some TLC.

Hetty

Hetty's last night in Totteridge! Not impressed with her mum asking to play at this hour of the day and her brothers and sisters giving her blanket a very hard time!

Last Group Shot

Sad day for us tomorrow. Hetty is the first puppy to leave. Sad for us but a wonderful new life ahead for Hetty with her new family, the Cutmores.

Extra puppy?

Nope, it's just what Stewart took from Cali's coat this afternoon. Cali is having a major molt and when you come visit please do not wear black! This is a snap of Cali after a 20 minute "groom". I know she looks miffed but she really does love a comb through!

Get down Shep

Well, after Jennifer filmed this short clip, the puppies gave me some stick. I laughed too soon!

Paradise

Times such as this I don't mind the poo! Bliss, just pure bliss!

Hetty

We hope to ask all the puppies to say hello on Sunday, this was a dummy run. The collars are getting a little tight now, we may have to go buy bigger ones!

Can you spot yours?

The puppies looked so sweet, fast asleep after the morning feed and mop-up. Can you spot yours? I think you might just have to guess!

Bed time

Like most children, the puppies resist the moment when they are to go to bed. They make short work of the newspaper put down for them.

Looking after puppies is rather like.....

.......threading beads without a knot on the end. It doesn't matter how many you thread, there is always a little pile just waiting for you to deal with!

Here is Stewart in action.

A new toy

Today the puppies managed to get hold of a toilet roll today so the garden looked rather as if there had been a wedding. I got the broom to sweep it up but it was not to be. The puppies had other ideas.

A trip down memory lane.

We put the puppies back in the whelping box for a few minutes today - they only just fit! 4 weeks ago it was a very different story!

Can you spot the difference?

Evening food routine.

The puppies like to let us know when it is supper time. Bless their expectant little faces.
