Mastitis strikes!

Day 6: 9 p.m. After another trip to the vet, it is confirmed that Cali has mastitis. However, the vet tells us we caught it very early and is hopeful that she will make a full recovery and will be able to continue feeding the pups herself. She is on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs but we have also spent time using hot compresses on the affected area and massaging it. Hopefully this will help the infection to resolve itself quickly. Keep your fingers crossed - I don't think any of us would welcome the prospect of bottle feeding the puppies every 2 hours.
